On Wednesday, October 27th, the Manhattan School of Music Jazz Orchestra performed a tribute to Gil Evans. Special guests included Miles Evans (son of Gil) on trumpet, performing selections from New Bottles Old Wine and Dave Liebman on Sax performing the New York premier of his arrangement of Sketches of Spain. The orchestra is under the direction of Justin Dicioccio. Lew Soloff joined Miles Evans on stage for a selection and they traded solos. Lew was one of Miles' teachers.
