Ken Franckling, a Jazz Journalists Association member is an award-winning arts writer and free-lance photographer specializing in music photography. He began carrying his cameras to clubs, concerts and festivals across the U.S. in 1983 when he realized that some musical moments were better captured by film than words. His forte is the jazz scene and his work includes some of the most riveting photographs taken of Miles Davis during the final five years of his life.
His fine art prints are in many private collections and have been exhibited throughout the U.S. and in Europe. His stock photography includes images of more than 2,000 musicians. He is a winner of the ASCAP Deems Taylor Award for excellence in music journalism and is a contributing writer/photographer for United Press International, Down Beat, JazzTimes and other publications.
